Video Marketing Trends for 2020

In regards to online marketing strategies, content is still king! This is why marketers and content creators are constantly competing to have the most shareable and engaging content; leading to the rise of video marketing.

Video marketing is no longer an option, it’s a necessity. In order to remain competitive and relevant, you need to incorporate video marketing into your strategy. Videos are tangible and consumable, in fact, according to a study by Insivia,

“Viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video, compared to 10% when reading it in text.” - Insivia

As we enter a new year and a brand new decade, the video marketing experts at D3 want to share insider information on video marketing trends for 2020.

Live Streaming

Live streaming is changing the way that businesses are able to communicate with their audiences by engaging viewers in immediate and authentic ways. Live videos make users feel like they are being directly spoken to and encourage engagement as many viewers know that their questions or comments can be answered in real-time.

Companies use live videos to promote new products, make important announcements, demonstrate their products in action, host question and answer sessions, webinars, interviews, special events, and more! The best part about these live videos is that they are simple and free! No editing, studios, or post-production work needed. Think Facebook Live, Instagram Live, YouTube Live and most recently, LinkedIn.

Video Podcasts

Viewers enjoy watching video podcasts (or videocasts), to see exactly what is happening in the studio and to put faces to the voices they hear on the mics. Video podcasts help viewers feel closer to your brand and allow you to better connect with your audience. This can also work in reverse! If viewers find and connect with your videocast first, they will now have the additional opportunity to discover the traditional audio-only podcast.

Vlogging for Organizations

Vlogging is a video trend that is already popular on sites such as YouTube. Companies can use their video blogs to help viewers feel more connected with their brand and to humanize their company. Vlogging allows your company to give viewers and customers a behind-the-scenes look at your team, routines, and values. You can use vlogging for new product launches, to show how you prepare for an event or even a typical day in the office!

IGTV and Vertical Videos

According to HubSpot, 78% of people watch online videos every week, and 55% view online videos every day. People on average are now spending more time-consuming content on our phones, rather than our computers or tablets. This is why producing videos in a vertical format is crucial.

IGTV (Instagram Television), as well as Instagram and Snapchat Stories, allow users to upload vertically formatted videos that are between 15 seconds and 60 minutes. IGTV opens up the possibility for companies to branch out and begin uploading these same vertical videos to their YouTube channels.

360° Videos

360° videos are videos like no other. They allow users to consume content in an immersive, interactive, and very real way. 360° videos are increasingly being used in innovative video marketing strategies and are a trend that will only continue to grow from here, particularly for travel and event companies. Pro Tip: 360° videos are now a video feature on Facebook, making it easy for anyone to try making their own!
