AI Lessons Learned

Lately, the news has been flooded with information about different artificial intelligence tools that have been revolutionizing industries of all kinds including digital marketing. Common uses of AI include content creation, image generation, research, coding, and more. However, despite the convenience and potential, it’s important to recognize AI as an imperfect tool to improve skills and not replace them.

Our team at D3 is here to support our clients and has created a compilation of AI lessons learned—our guide to using artificial intelligence tools correctly and avoiding common mistakes.

Best Practices for Using AI

  1. Fact Check

When using AI, one of the very first rules is to always, always, ALWAYS fact-check. Platforms like Chat GPT have a limited range of knowledge. For example, when Chat GPT was first launched, the knowledge extent was up to September 2021, and could not provide information on any news or research after that. \

You may have noticed Google AI answering questions to your search queries. However, these answers were oftentimes dangerous, outlandish, and outright wrong. Examples of the backlash from news outlets and social media are pushing Google to improve these efforts.

  1. Personalize

Human touch is something that artificial intelligence does not have… yet. When advertising for your business, personalized messages with genuine language are noticeable and go a long way. Once you utilize AI a few times, it’s easy to see the patterns in content and for users to dismiss them when they can tell it’s AI-generated.

You know your business and audience best. Don’t let artificial intelligence do all of the work for you—a personal touch will always improve the content.

  1. Avoid Plagiarism

Tools like Chat GPT are pulling responses from a large amount of data, but that doesn’t guarantee it is not taken word for word from another online resource. Plus, similar prompts can generate nearly identical answers for different users.

  1. Idea Generation

Need help brainstorming? Whether you’re planning a themed birthday party, choosing a blog topic, or looking for creative ways to use your favorite new word in a sentence, AI can provide you with an abundance of ideas, right at your fingertips. Take these ideas as a starting point and make them your own!

  1. Choose the Right AI

The number of AI tools available for use is constantly growing. While most artificial intelligence software can complete a variety of tasks, many are specialized for specific purposes like code generation, content writing, images, design, and so much more. If you’re looking for a helper on your next task, find the right tool that fits your needs or test out a few to see which one you like best.

  1. Use Security Precautions

Just like any other site on the internet, it’s important to understand privacy settings and data collection policies. Limit the amount of personal information that you share.

  1. Stay Educated

As the world of AI continues to evolve, there is still much to learn. Stay up to date on the latest news regarding artificial intelligence and the software you are utilizing.
