Gillis Gilkerson and the City of Seaford, Delaware, have exciting news for the local community. Amazon will be opening a distribution center in the middle of the rural Delmarva Peninsula. Starting in May, the large warehouse, formerly the DuPont nylon plant, will be providing jobs for hundreds and become a last-mile delivery station for Amazon packages.

The D3 Take

Amazon setting up shop on the Delmarva peninsula presents many exciting opportunities. When complete, the facility is expected to provide hundreds of full-time and part-time jobs to the community. Pay will start at $15/hour.

Sussex County continues to grow residentially and commercially now with the help of the world's most well-known online marketplace. Not only does this benefit the local economy, but in the long run, Amazon’s name brand can encourage other businesses to consider Delmarva when looking to expand or conduct business.

After a year of uncertainty, this is a big win for the community and the Delmarva Peninsula. It is encouraging to see relationships being fostered between our local businesses and worldwide corporations. Together, they are working to provide a better experience for soon-to-be local employees and the customers on the Delmarva peninsula who will continue receiving fast and efficient delivery.

We are excited for Amazon and the City of Seaford as they lean into this prime opportunity!
