Google Ads

Google Ads (formerly known as Google AdWords) is Google’s paid advertising PPC  (pay-per-click) product. One of the most effective methods of paid online advertising available, Google Ads is used by thousands of organizations - small, medium, and large. No matter their size, these organizations have one thing in common - they want to tap into the ever-growing number of people who search for information, products, and services, online.

Google has three principle ad formats: Search, Display, and Video/YouTube.

  1. Google Search Ads: These ads appear on the Google SERP (Search Engine Results Page). These ads are shown based on keywords a user types into the search bar.

  2. Google Display Ads: These ads are shown throughout the Display Ad Network, a network of over 2 million sites across the web that opt into advertising! Do you recall being on a website, and seeing an advertisement to the left/right, or at the top and bottom of the page? Yep, you guessed it, many of those are Google Ads in the wild!

  3. Video/Youtube Ads: These ads appear before, during, or after YouTube videos. YouTube is owned by Google and receives over 30 million visitors every day. Whether you like them or not, they are a hugely successful marketing tool to drive traffic to your site and to convert leads!

Google Search Ads appear when someone types a search query into Google. Let’s say, for example, a person searches for “plumber near me” on Google... Within a fraction of a second, Google factors thousands of keywords to determine which of them are the most relevant to your search. Google then conducts an auction with all advertisers bidding on that keyword. The ads that “win” are what is served to you at the top of the search results.

Beyond just the keywords you choose, as the advertiser, you have ultimate control over your ad copy and can set audience targeting that’s as broad or as narrow as you can imagine. Take this all a step further with a remarketing campaign to drive conversions and you’ll truly tap into the power of Google Ads.

Google Ads can be extremely helpful in meeting your business goals in ways that were simply not possible before! While traditional SEO can take weeks, or even longer, to take effect, Google Ads offers an instant result

In a similar respect, with Google Ads, you have the chance to appear on the first page of the internet's largest search engine! Google Ads not only have the power to serve ads to people who are actively searching for what your company has to offer when they need it, but also puts your brand top of mind, before potential customers need you; because when they do, there you are!

So what’s the catch? In order for Google Ads to work for you, you need to work with someone who really knows their stuff. With Google Ads, you pay for each click to your website. This means that you pay whenever someone clicks on your ad, regardless if they converted or not. Similarly, if your competitors are already using Google Ads, the competition can be fierce! As a result, the cost per click will go up, up, up, so, you need to ensure that your keywords are tight enough that you’re not wasting your budget on keywords that don’t apply to your business, as well as add negative keywords to your campaigns, so your ads aren’t shown to the wrong users.
