The Story

The Story

For Ben Alder, founder of The Land Group, land isn’t just a transaction; it’s a long-term asset, an ecological resource, and a part of who he is. The company needed a website that reflected this philosophy, while also functioning as a powerful tool for buyers, sellers, and stakeholders to explore properties and understand the deeper mission behind their work. Previous attempts to build custom features, especially an interactive land mapping tool, had fallen short. The Land Group hired D3 to build a website that delivered a clear, authentic brand voice and storytelling element to convey what makes The Land Group unique.

“The land is where we do our work. We’re not just realtors, we’re land brokers. The website needed to reflect that.”
Ben Alder, Founder, The Land Group

Our Journey

From the first meeting, Alder had a clear creative direction: the website needed to feel grounded, real, and rooted in the land. D3’s mission was to bring that vision to life. Alder provided historical photos, examples of aesthetic inspiration, and specific content ideas—all reinforcing a message of authenticity, stewardship, and place.

Together, The Land Group and D3 worked to build a site that didn’t just list properties but told a story—one informed by decades of experience, respect for land, and a thoughtful approach to brokerage. Alder also emphasized that all written content should come directly from The Land Group to preserve their tone and values.

“I care about words. We didn’t want anything generic or AI-generated. We wanted it to sound like us—because it is.”
Ben Alder

A standout feature of the new website is a fully customized interactive map that displays The Land Group’s exclusive listings across the region. This was a major technical milestone that Alder had tried to achieve with other developers on multiple occasions. D3 broke through those barriers and delivered.

“As a land company, you live on a map.” Static photos don’t cut it. Land has to be understood spatially. It was a huge lift, but D3 figured it out.”
Ben Alder

The final website captures the essence of The Land Group—strategic, authentic, and deeply rooted in the land they represent. It tells their story, elevates their brand, and functions as a digital resource for both public and private audiences. Thoughtful design elements—including authentic photography, earthy tones, and a grounded, intuitive layout—reflect the company's connection to the land. The site is fully responsive and easy to navigate on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices, making it ideal for agents and buyers on the go.

“D3 got the look and feel right out of the gate. Dialing it in took time, but they were patient and collaborative the whole way through. It is the first time our full story is out there—and that feels good.”
Ben Alder

Now live at thelandgroup.com, the new site offers a robust digital platform that mirrors the values The Land Group brings to every client and every piece of land: stewardship, strategy, and a long-term vision.

“Ben and The Land Group came to us with a vision that was deeply rooted in authenticity, purpose, and place. Our role was to build a site that didn’t just display listings—it had to reflect the way they think about land. Every detail was crafted to honor that.”
