The Story

Coastal Hospice is a well-known nonprofit on Maryland’s Eastern Shore that provides community-centered end-of-life services. Coastal Hospice connects with so many walks of life through direct care, the Thrift Store, grief support groups, a podcast, and Camp Chameleon.

With such a strong presence on Delmarva, Coastal Hospice needed a website that better reflected the breadth of its work and made its services easier to find. Their website had outdated security and infrastructure, which needed to be modernized quickly. Coastal Hospice chose D3 because of our local connection and our familiarity with the scope of their work.

Our Journey

From the first conversation, our D3 team understood that the top priorities for Coastal Hospice’s website were helping people take action, making information accessible, and organizing a broad range of services and programs.

Accessibility was the top priority for the new site. Many visitors are older adults, people with disabilities, or caregivers and family members looking for help during a stressful time. The navigation now leads with three clear actions: donate, volunteer, and request care. The site is available in multiple languages and includes accessibility features such as keyboard navigation, readable typography, strong color contrast, and screen reader support.

D3 created a custom module for Coastal Hospice’s podcast to make the educational and supportive content they produce readily available. Developing an automatic player to make listening simple, including easy buttons to start and pause a podcast directly on the site.

D3 developed a calendar to organize frequently changing events. Coastal Hospice needed to be able to schedule yearly fundraising events, monthly memorial gatherings, and grief support groups across several counties and timeframes.

Client stories are one of the things that make Coastal Hospice truly special and make people feel connected to the organization. D3 helped develop the Lives Remembered platform, where clients can share a testimonial and honor their loved one’s life story. The platform helps Coastal Hospice retain and share touching stories.

Several Coastal Hospice team members update the website every day, so the site needed to make it simple to add volunteer newsletters, annual reports, staff recognition, and information on programs, support groups, and events.

Together, these changes make it easier for visitors to find the care they need and stay connected with Coastal Hospice.

Testimonial

“Choosing D3 Corp. to redesign our website was a no-brainer, especially after seeing how many organizations on the Lower Eastern Shore stand behind their work and service.

From our very first meeting with the entire D3 team, they made us feel comfortable, valued, and confident that we had a clear plan moving forward. Communication throughout the entire process was fast, transparent, and encouraging. Jessica and the entire team were professional, attentive, reliable, and truly listened to our ideas while offering smart suggestions to improve the overall user experience.

The look, speed, functionality, and overall performance of our new website were much needed for the patients, families, and communities Coastal Hospice serves. Every step of the process felt seamless, and we couldn’t be more pleased with how everything came together.

We truly appreciate the time, creativity, expertise, and care the D3 team put into making our new website more robust, user-friendly, and reflective of who we are as an organization. We highly recommend D3 Corp. to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, responsive, and creative web design team!”
