Their StoryBabe Ruth cut-out for D3 case study

The Sultan of Swat. The King of Crash. The Colossus of Clout. The Great Bambino!

The Babe Ruth Birthplace & Museum near Baltimore’s Camden Yards is a historic landmark and a must-see destination for Maryland sports fans.

The face of baseball’s golden age lives on in the same larger-than-life way he did when Ruth captivated a generation of fans with his record-shattering swing and unforgettable personality.

The Babe Ruth Museum has been a long-term client of D3, having worked in a loyal partnership for over ten years. Being a pivotal nonprofit organization in the Baltimore region, D3 and the museum wanted their web presence to convey its historical importance and offer membership and donation tools, event and exhibit information, and resources that are accessible to the public.

Our Journey

At D3, we build strong relationships with our clients, whether they are down the street or across the Bay, and we’re proud to have worked with the Babe Ruth Museum for 13 years.

When it was time to refresh their website, we knew honoring an icon of American culture and one of the most influential athletes in sports history was something we had to knock out of the park. We aimed to put more power behind the events and exhibits section, allowing for flexibility while commemorating the Yankee legend’s artifacts of the 1920s. We sought to modernize the design while maintaining core elements like the color palette and key branding elements. Making the rich video and audio archive accessible was a top goal.

The final design thoughtfully balances multiple priorities, creating a cohesive experience that supports the museum’s goals. The homepage is both impactful and functional, featuring intuitive navigation, interactive hover elements, and easy access to key information like hours and location.

The new website strengthens their fundraising capabilities through multiple revenue-generating channels. Visitors can now easily donate, purchase tickets and souvenirs, sign up for memberships, and explore sponsorship opportunities.

The result is a site that supports daily museum operations while expanding global fundraising efforts. The process went so smoothly that D3 and the museum staff had ample time to launch the week of Babe Ruth’s birthday, February 6, 1895. Long live the Great Bambino!
